First Day of School August 13, 2008

This is a picture of the girls on their first day back to school for the 2008-2009 school year. They were excited to get back to see friends and to stop sitting at home being bored. What they were not excited about was wearing uniforms again and homework.

Erica is in a 5th/6th grade classroom with Mrs. Snow who is a fantastic teacher. Fortunately, Erica has a lot of friends in her classroom with whom she can study and converse, hopefully not during teaching time. Erica is learning two foreign languages this year: Spanish and Mandarin (Chinese). The Mandarin teacher has moved here from China and we are very excited about this new opportunity for the students at CFI.

Lauren is in a homeroom with 29 other 8th graders. The 8th graders travel to other teachers for math, social studies, science and language arts. They also have Spanish, music, art and physical education. Lauren had the choice to study Spanish or Mandarin but decided that Spanish would be more beneficial since she will be entering high school next year. Most likely the Spanish will be a more popular language at the high school level.
